Readers Club

The FE Readers' Club has the mission of culturalizing , that is, promoting and disseminating culture, instigating, reflecting on, and debating knowledge through reading.

By promoting regular meetings between people from the most diverse backgrounds, the club's objective is to use literature (fictional or non-fictional) as a vector to expand knowledge and culture, developing reflection and critical sense through the ability to interpret, promoting and building the habit and sharing of reading, expanding horizons, breaking paradigms and resistance and highlighting the importance of cultural community outreach activities for the development of greater dialogue between the university and society.

In a university environment, it is necessary to understand that literature goes beyond scientific content. It fosters the growth of the individual as a person, teaches how to dream, create, abstract and broaden one's worldview, transforming lives.

What is a Readers Club?

A reading club is a group of people who meet regularly to talk about a particular book and share their thoughts and experiences about that reading, thus building the habit of reading and expanding their cultural repertoire.

Who can participate?

The FE Readers' Club is open to the entire internal (staff, students, and faculty) and external community of Unicamp, bringing together people from diverse backgrounds, educations, ethnicities, and experiences. It is not necessary to be an experienced reader or have a background in literary studies. Participation in the meetings is voluntary.

Works by the most renowned authors are read and discussed. varied literary genres and themes, with the aim of providing participants with the experience of contact with multiple textual styles. Participants will have the opportunity to read, reread and get to know authors from the most varied origins, experiences and nationalities, whether renowned or not, award-winning or not.
To facilitate access, the chosen book will preferably be available on the free digital platform BibliOn – Virtual Library of the State of São Paulo (https://biblion.odilo.us/) and/or in the collection of SBU – Unicamp Library Systems (https://www.sbu.unicamp.br/sbu/).

How does it work?

A book is chosen as the monthly reading and at the end of the period, participants meet to discuss the work. A mediator is responsible for leading the session to discuss reading experiences in a fun and enjoyable way, guiding participants to interact, share their impressions and experience new reflections, visions and perceptions.

What are the meetings like?

Meetings last an hour to an hour and a half on average. During the holidays, sessions are held online, and during other months, they are held in person at the Faculty of Education Library. They may also be held in a hybrid format when special guests or members of other clubs or communities participate.

The FE Readers' Club is open to participation from the entire internal and external Unicamp community. It is intended for both experienced readers and beginners or those without a reading habit.
