“Donate Toys and Spread Smiles” collects toys for children in vulnerable situations

Institutional Communications action mobilizes the FE-Unicamp community to value play and reinforce social commitment to childhood.

The "Donate Toys and Spread Smiles" campaign, held throughout May at the Unicamp School of Education (FE-Unicamp) in partnership with the Division of Early Childhood and Supplementary Education (Dedic), collected toys for vulnerable children. Promoted as part of the "Playing in Childhood" project, the initiative involved students, faculty, technical and administrative staff, and partners. The goal was to promote play as a fundamental right of children, in accordance with the Child and Adolescent Statute (ECA) and the guidelines of the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC).

The initiative was part of the Childhood Month activities and sought to raise awareness among the academic community about the importance of play for human development, strengthening the bond between universities and society. By promoting the collection and donation of toys, the campaign reinforced FE-Unicamp's commitment to comprehensive, civic, and inclusive education, expanding the public university's social impact.

The program also included playful ambiance throughout the college's spaces, in partnership with the NGO Cultura Esperantista & Ecobrinquedoteca (CE&E), and moments of collective welcome with popcorn and cotton candy. The closing ceremony took place on May 29th, in honor of World Play Day, celebrated the day before.

The campaign carried out by the Communications Area was coordinated by FE-Unicamp journalist Erika Blaudt (Fapesp scholarship holder), and organized by scholarship students Rayan Silva, Laura Santos and intern Laura Magalhães, with support from Dedic, FE-Unicamp Management, technical staff and Academic Centers.

The Faculty of Education's Board of Directors warmly thanks all those who donated and the institutional partners who made this campaign possible. Thanks to collective commitment, the toys collected will not only bring smiles but also reaffirm the university's role in promoting rights, coexistence, and caring for children.
