This book originates from the project entitled “Between bodies, texts and contexts: languages of art in narratives by women teachers”, coordinated by Eliana Ayoub, professor at the Faculty of Education at Unicamp, and funded by the São Paulo Research Foundation (Fapesp).
The research was developed by a team of 19 researchers and aimed to understand how women – black, indigenous and white – became basic education teachers, and how this process of teacher formation was permeated by different forms of language, especially those related to art, the body and body expression.
We interviewed 29 teachers and, in this e-book, we found narratives written by 16 participants who reported how they came to understand their process of becoming teachers, the challenges they faced in childhood, experienced and experience daily at school and how these experiences affect their professional practice. There are also writings by researchers who were immersed in the investigation.
As you read the chapters, you can hear the voice of each woman-author-artist-dancer-teacher-researcher who speaks to you here, tells, retells, remembers, builds and rebuilds her experiences. More than narratives of how they became professionals, the book takes us to the plural writings of women teachers from different cultures, with different knowledge and unique experiences, which, despite being unique and personal, allow the construction of affective narratives, of interaction, nurturing supportive, fraternal and creative cooperation. These are shared stories bringing powerful and transdisciplinary places and processes.
We hope you enjoy these plural narratives that offer us their insurgency of affections.
Good reading!
