Colloquium “José Craveirinha. Poet of Historical Reparation”
Event is held by University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD) in partnership with the Faculty of Education at Unicamp, as a result of Amendment to the Agreement between Unicamp and UTAD, located in Portugal. The event will be attended by Professor Débora Mazza, executor of the Amendment.
On the event
On May 26, at 9:30 am in Portugal (05:30 am Brasilia time, BR), in the Small Auditorium of the Municipal Theatre of Vila Real, the colloquium “José Craveirinha. Poet of Historical Reparation” will take place.
In the context of the centenary of the birth of the Mozambican poet José Craveirinha, this colloquium seeks to look at and reflect in a shared way on Craveirinha's legacy as a man and thinker who, through his poetic writing and his attentive citizen's gaze, knew how to deconstruct, map, analyze and interpret with rigor and sagacity the Mozambican colonial and post-independence context. Above all, human life in its continuous clash between history, memory and identity.
A poet of a nation in constant transformation, Craveirinha made his poetry the master tool to map absences, inequalities, sorrow, pain, mourning, and death, but also fraternity, hope, love, tenderness and the constant exercise of human dignity.
The following researchers are part of the Scientific Committee of the colloquium: Debora Mazza, Esser Jorge Silva, Ezra Nhampoca, Fernando Moreira, Gonçalo Fernandes, Orquídea Ribeiro, Sheila Khan, Tânia Machonisse and Vítor de Sousa.
