Menu: Fractions are a topic that permeates all schooling, making it essential to discuss their essence, students' difficulties, and the associated knowledge of the teacher. In this course, we will start by discussing and analyzing practical situations and students' difficulties as elements to articulate the specialized mathematical knowledge of the teacher who teaches mathematics and the potential of a teaching practice based on problem-solving and formulation to improve student learning and results. We will discuss, for example, fundamental ideas for developing the sense of fractional numbers, the part-whole relationship as a central element for operations, different meanings of fractions; operations with fractions without knowing the rule from early childhood education (without formal use of the least common multiple) and how to make mathematically valid records (with and without numbers).
